I am participating in Susanna Hill’s fantastic Halloweensie contest for the second year in a row!
The rules: write a 100 word Halloween story appropriate for children (children here defined as 12 and under) (title not included in the 100 words), using the words shiver, cauldron, and howl. I hope you enjoy! Happy Halloween, friends!
Candy in the Cauldron
The webs came from Amazon.
Black plastic spiders don’t move–
The clear ones glow in the dark.
That howling? Pre-recorded.
There’s no organ in this house.
That Frankenstein’s in makeup
and Dracula’s fangs come out.
Those bats are cutout paper.
That witch carries a Swiffer.
I know it’s all just for fun.
So tell me, then, what is it
that sends shivers down my spine?
And there you have it! I pushed myself to write two this year! My second is completely different and can be found here.
We can have a rational explanation for everything on Halloween and still feel spooked! Love it, Alissa 🙂 Thanks for joining in the Halloweensie fun!
